Summer Wedding & Party Food

While the weather hasn’t been ideal, summer is still a time of celebration and festivities. Whether you are planning a summer wedding, christening, birthday or anniversary, choosing delicious summer wedding & party food is one of the most important things you should take into account when planning your event. Here are some of our favourite summer wedding & party food ideas.

Fruit & Salad

Refreshing, in-season fruits, vegetables and salads will not only look great but will also help your guests get into the summer mood. Think of tall glass juice dispensers filled with ice-cold, freshly squeezed orange juice and refreshing homemade lemonade, and jugs of delicious smoothies. Big salad bowls filled with leafy greens can be jazzed up with brightly coloured pomegranate seeds and even strawberries dressed with balsamic vinegar. You could even set up a little salad bar where guests can pick out what they want and add a variety of dressings and homemade breads to. Platters of fruit skewers will also look and taste amazing, and if you’re feeling cheeky you could add fluffy marshmallows to these!

Fire up the Barbeque

Nothing says summer quite like an early evening barbeque. This is a really social style of eating, and is great for an outdoor wedding or party. Beef burgers, steaks, chicken, corn on the cob and sausages grilled on the BBQ will have everyone in great spirits, and will taste extra good when served alongside your salad bar!

No summer party would be complete without some refreshing signature cocktails! Again, if you’re having an outdoor wedding or party, you can have a more informal feel to your event and serve pitchers of freshly made margaritas, mojitos and cosmopolitans. Pitchers of sangria can be filled with lots of ice and fresh fruit too. For a really sweet addition to your cocktails, add edible flower or glitter to water and freeze in ice cube trays, and serve the cocktails with colourful straws or personalised drink flags or umbrellas.
